

Ms. Bernice C. Brannen, age 89, passed away Saturday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County. Ms. Brannen worked for Rose’s Department Store and retired after twenty two years of service. She was the oldest member of Middleground Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and working in her yard. Ms. Brannen was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie L. Brannen; two grandchildren, Ty Andrew Brannen and Caroline Murphy; two brothers, Howell A. Campbell and J.P. Campbell; and her sister, Eunice C. Hollingsworth.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Ann (Chris) Carter of Statesboro, Barbara (Pat) Murphy of Guyton, Roy L. Brannen of Statesboro, and Craig (Billie Jean) Brannen of Statesboro; one sister, Evelyn C. Deal of Statesboro; one brother-in-law, Floyd Brannen of Statesboro; five sisters-in-law, Lila Dale Freeman, Shirley Brannen, Elizabeth Brannen, Anna Belle Brannen and Bonnie Campbell, all of Statesboro; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Steve Taylor and Elder Thomas Deal officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Brannen’s grandsons and a nephew will serve as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Middleground Primitive Baptist Church and their wives.
