

The daughter of the late Charles Outland and Zada Belle Rimes Bohler, Carolyn was born on her parents' farm outside of Statesboro on October 25, 1931, the fourth of six children. Growing up in Bulloch County, she worked on her parents' farm along with her four brothers and one sister, and attended and graduated from Register School. She married Charles Millican, Jr., of Silver Creek, GA, a graduate of Georgia Teachers College, on September 1, 1950.
Throughout her adult life, Carolyn worked in various secretarial positions at schools, hospitals and banks, eventually working for the Department of the Treasury in Texas, from which she retired. She was also active in various religious and civic organizations, including local Women's Clubs and United Methodist Women. Carolyn was always very active in the United Methodist Church, holding various offices in the local church and serving as a Sunday School teacher for various ages. While at Statesboro First United Methodist Church, Carolyn volunteered in the library and was very active in the UMW, serving as president one year. She was recognized for her volunteer work and honored as a "Quiet Disciple".
After their retirement, Charles and Carolyn returned to Bulloch County, residing on the farm where Carolyn grew up. During their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and supporting Georgia Southern University sports. In her spare time, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bird-watching, and working in her flower garden.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Charles R. Millican, Jr., Statesboro; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Bryant of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Bonnie Millican of Wellborn, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Larry McCrea of Charleston, SC; and son, Scott Millican of Statesboro; grandchildren Kevin and Kyle Bryant, Chas and Gen Millican, Christy Chandler, Sara Jaudon, Morgan and John Millican; a brother and sister-in-law, Darwin and Joyce Bohler of Statesboro, sister-in-law, Billie Bohler of Brooklet; and sister-in-law, Pat Bohler of Garden City. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Emory Bohler, Emma Jean "Dodie" MacElhannon, Harry "Buck" Bohler, and Bobby "Tater" Bohler, sister-in-law Jackie Bohler, and sister-in-law Iduma Bohler.
A memorial service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held at Statesboro First United Methodist Church, 101 South Main Street, Statesboro, GA on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 12 noon, Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dan Williams Sunday school class. The family will accept visitors at the church between 11:00 and 11:45 am.
