Christopher "Vern" Lamont Roberts

Christopher Lamont “Vern” Roberts, age 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior after suffering with cancer and multiple illnesses at Georgia Regents University Hospital in Augusta on January 9th. Before his illness, he was employed with CM City Rentals as a salesman and warehouse manager. His hobbies included fishing, watching sports and bowling. He was a member of a Statesboro bowling league winning several trophies for his efforts. He loved NASCAR Racing; Jimmy Johnson was his favorite driver. He enjoyed baseball and football; the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys, Georgia Bulldogs and GSU were his favorite teams. He was a wonderful man, loved by all that met him, and will be deeply missed. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by grandparents, James S. and Bertha Mae Roberts; father, Alton Frank Roberts, and a number of uncles.

Survivors include his former wife, Pamela Lacourse, Bolivia, NC; a son, Christopher Aaron Roberts, Brooklet; daughter, Heather Lynn Roberts, Meridan, CT; mother, Naomi Ruth Roberts, Brooklet; four brothers, Alton Jimmy Roberts, Brooklet, David Wendell Roberts, (Evelyn), Kingsland, Edwin Eugene Roberts, Brooklet, Byron Keith Roberts(Brandy), Raeford, NC, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and nephews survive.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening 5-9pm at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 pm in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Roberts officiating.

Burial will follow in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Roberts, Sidney Roberts, Davey Roberts, Samuel Foy Roberts , II, Matthew Roberts, II and Dalton Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers include the many close friends from the Waffle House Restaurant and CM City Rentals of Statesboro.

The family request that Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 515 Denmark St. #500, Statesboro, GA 30458.
