

Mr. Spell was born in Tattnall County to the late Augustus Greene and Annie Jones Spell, one of 13 children, and lived most of his life in Savannah, before moving to Nevils in 1993. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was a former member of Silk Hope Baptist Church in Savannah and was currently a member of Emit Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Baptist Men’s Association. He was also a member of the Bryan Masonic Lodge # 303 F&AM and the Richmond Hill Shriner’s. He retired after 41 years of service with Seaboard Coastline Railroad and CSX Railroad, where he was a Trainman, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Spell was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Howard Spell.
Mr. Spell is survived by his sons, Clifford Paul Spell, Jr. of Savannah and Larry Spell of Metter; 2 daughters, Melinda S. Walker and her husband, Garry of Savannah and Lorri S. Spell of Vidalia; sister, Anne Daphene Allen of Metter; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, November 17 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 18 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Huffingham officiating.
Burial will be in Harville Baptist Church Cemetery.
