

Dolores "Dolly" Kolman Beacham, died peacefully on May 17, 2012 in Statesboro at age 71. She was born in New York City in 1940, to parents Barney and Eileen Kolman. Her siblings were the late Ronald Kolman and the late Bette Kolman Perry. The family soon moved to Savannah, Georgia, where Mrs. Beacham grew up. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1958, attended the University of Georgia, and graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in Interior Design. She was married in 1959 to Ansel Franklin Beacham Jr., in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Beacham was a long-time member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and the Susannah Wesley Circle, and served in many capacities at her church, including several mission trips. She was a 1994 recipient of the Dean Day Smith Service to Mankind Award. She was a member of the Sprig and Dig Garden Club, the Thursday Morning Bridge Club, a Couples Bridge Club, and the First Saturday Supper Club.
Mrs. Beacham was a breast cancer survivor and worked with other cancer survivors, aiding them in their recovery through her work with Still Beautiful, a company she founded and ran for several years. She also ran her own interior design business for residential clients. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, and crafts, and she enjoyed water-skiing and snow-skiing in her younger days.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Franklin Beacham of Statesboro; two sons and a daughter: Frank (Margaret) Beacham of Rome, Georgia; Marion (Sonja) Beacham of Dalton, Georgia; and Eileen (Doug) Anderson of Flowery Branch, Georgia. She is also survived by eight loving grandchildren: Ansel and Austin Beacham of Rome; Logan, Hayley, and Avery Beacham of Dalton; and Forrest Ann, Emily, and Clay Anderson of Flowery Branch. Other survivors include her Aunt Florence Adler of Encino, California; two sisters-in-law, Anne Kolman of Savannah and Beverly Lucas of Richmond, Virginia; one brother-in-law Edward Perry of Savannah; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She and Franklin were always "on the go." They enjoyed traveling to visit friends, family, and beautiful places around the world, and especially enjoyed spending time at "the Beach house" at Lake Sinclair. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Pittman Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Steffen officiating.
