Born May 16, 1982 in Altus, Oklahoma, he is the son of Eugene David King I and Elizabeth Lisa Melendez.
After serving five years of active duty in the United States Navy, Gene, or David as he often went by, decided to join the Coast Guard Family where he worked as an Intelligence Specialist First Class. Motorcycles were his passion and he couldn’t wait to get out onto the open road with his buddies of the Savannah Street Soldiers. He loved speaking Spanish, playing games with his family and friends, and drinking bubble tea. He will forever be remembered for his professionalism, his work ethic, and his ability to simultaneously get things done all the while putting a smile on everyone’s faces. Everyone that was around Gene for even a moment could feel his kindness. With his charismatic personality and charming smile, he had a knack for being able to light up a room and was often the life of the party. Judge-free, loving, and open-minded, he would befriend anyone he came across, believing in the potential in all of us and encouraging us to see that in ourselves. He lived his life by the Golden Rule. He taught us all how important it is to live life to the fullest, embrace positivity, and to, as his favorite saying goes, “Begin each day as if it were on purpose.” Eugene was an amazing father, son, brother, significant other, and friend, and he will truly be missed.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brinley and Birkley King and their mother Ashley King, his beloved girlfriend Erika Maline Keib and her two children, Ayana and James, his father and mother, and his two younger siblings, Elexis and Erik King.
