

Mrs. Frances Austin Joyner, 95, died early Sunday morning, January 29, 2017, in the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was a native of Smyrna, Ga. but had lived in Bulloch County most of her life.
Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd L. Joyner, Jr., her parents Chester and Levettie Austin, two sisters Annie Grace Epperson and Katherine Morris and her son in law John S. Wallace.
Survivors are one daughter, Mary Bon Wallace of Statesboro, Ga. 3 sons and daughter in laws, Jay and Carolyn Joyner, of Sylvania, Ga., Terry B. and Terry J. Joyner of Statesboro and Jeffrey and Connie Joyner of Raleigh, N.C. One brother Chet Austin of Kennesaw, Ga., one sister and brother in law Rebekah and Mickey Walker of Kennesaw, Ga. Nine grandchildren, J. J. Wallace, Amy Wallace, Elizabeth W. Deal, Seth Joyner, Jessi J.Tallent, Neal Joyner, Trey Joyner, Samuel Joyner, Patrick Joyner and 10 great grandchildren.
Frances accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young girl and stayed true to her walk, enjoying Bible study (most recently with her Life Group who she called her good Christian friends) and mission work. She was active in and the oldest member of the Fellowship Sunday School class (she was so young at heart that she was asked to stay in the younger class) she had served almost all offices of the United Methodist Women for her church, district and the conference, including as President of the UMW for the South Georgia Conference. She was a faithful member of Pittman Park UMC where she had served on many committees and led mostly through her example and devotion.
She was also very active in the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, the Millen Woman’s Club (lifetime member), and the china painting clubs of Augusta and Millen. Frances and Lloyd were instrumental in starting the Rotary Club of Louisville, GA and she became a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International. She was an amazing hostess and opened her home to dozens of Rotary Exchange students and anyone else who needed a meal or a bed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday February 4th at 1:00pm at Pittman Park United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held in Pittman Park United Methodist Church Social Hall after the service.
