We always knew Fred as Smitty, and my mother (the youngest of his father's siblings) always viewed him as her first born. He and Betty have always been part of my life, and he and always seemed to show up when we had family occasions. In fact, his daughter Tanya's first trip out of GA was to my wedding, and then by special permission of the court as her adoption was not yet finalized. I am not sure my parents loved anyone more. We have not seen him and Betty as often as we would have liked over the years, but they have always been special people for us. Our best to the family going forward.
