

Mr. George William Wickham, Jr., age 74, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 after many, many years of life with Multiple Sclerosis. Mr. Wickham grew up in Orlando , Florida, graduating in 1961 From Boone High School. He attended Florida State University on a tennis scholarship before transferring to Georgia Southern College, also on a tennis scholarship. He was twice a Florida Jr. Tennis Champion and also a tennis coach at the Orlando Tennis Center. Mr. Wickham was employed with T.J. Morris Co. during his college years at Georgia Southern. He retired after 20 years as an accountant with the Statesboro Telephone Co. He was a member of Pittman Park United Methodist Church, the Masons, the Statesboro JC’s , Snooky’s Coffee Club, the NRA, and the Bull Shooters Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and GSU football fan. He enjoyed collecting custom knives and was a gun enthusiast who loved spending time in the woods.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Betty Wickham, Statesboro; son, Chris Wickham, Statesboro; daughter, Kelly Hagan (Kevin), Savannah; grandchildren, Tayler Wickham, Jacklyn Wickham, Haden Hoffman, Will Hoffman, and Helen Hoffman.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Wednesday, December, 19, 2018 at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home at 12 noon with a memorial service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Bagwell officiating.
A private burial at Bulloch Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date.
