Hilda Bennett Falligan

Hilda was born on September 25, 1924 in the Leefield-Stilson Community to the late Hugh and Ada Bennett. She was raised on the family farm along with her five siblings. After graduation from Brooklet High School in 1941, she moved to Savannah to take a business course and worked a Civil Service job at the Marine Hospital. While working there, she met her husband, Sgt. First Class Francis Issiah Falligan. After three tours of duty to Germany, he retired due to bad health and later they moved back to Bulloch County where she worked with J. P. Stephens and later Cooper-Wiss where she retired after 13 years of service. Hilda was a member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church and the Ladies Faith Bible Study Class and was a long time member of the American Legion Post 90, Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and loved to travel. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sister-in-law, Stephen J. and Mary Bennett and Norwood Bennett; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Hershel Hobbs; brother-in-law, Jimmy Deloach; sister-in-law, Renie Bennett; son-in-law, Franklin “Bozzy” Miller and a grandson, Dennis Miller.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Gail Falligan Miller of Statesboro; son, Larry Falligan and his wife, Tina of Wrightsville; four grandchildren, Lorie Hendrix and her husband, Chris, Danny Miller and his wife, Tammy, Jonathan Falligan and Amanda Falligan; sister, Yvonne Deloach of Brooklet; brother and sister-in-law, Stewart and Edna Bennett of Brooklet and sister-in-law, Martha Bennett of Brooklet; great grandchildren, Hunter Miller, Jamie Hendrix, Taylor Hendrix and Logan Hendrix, Lindsey Miller, Lizzie Mallard and Dusty Mallard, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, April 16, 2015 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating.

Burial will be in Lane’s Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Great-grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
