

Mrs. Iris Dovie Tyson, age 90, died Sunday at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and was the owner of Iris’s Beauty Shop for over forty years. Mrs. Tyson was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Steadfast Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Celebration Singers. She was also a member of the Magnolia Garden Club. Mrs. Tyson was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Tyson, her brother, Edward Hendrix, and three sisters, Irene Jones, Mazie Lee Bennett, and Rosa Lea Daughtry.
Survivors include her sons, Ashley Tyson of Huntsville, AL, Alan (Debbie) Tyson of Statesboro, GA; her sister, Ruby Echols of Macon, GA, three brothers, Hiram (Louise) Hendrix of Pelham, GA, Carroll Hendrix of Savannah, GA, and Harville (Helen Hunt) Hendrix of New York, NY; grandchildren, Tara Tyson, Amanda (John) Roberts, Matthew (Larsen) Tyson, and Jenna Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. H. William Perry officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Steadfast Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Interment will be in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
