

Mr. James Tillman Walker, age 75, died Friday evening, July 27, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Walker, a native of Coffee County, has lived most of life in Bulloch County. He was drafted into the U.S. Army soon after graduating from Douglas High School. After serving a brief tour in Korea, he graduated with honors from Officers Candidate School as a Lieutenant. He served 30 plus years as Commander of the Army National Guard in Statesboro and Savannah, retiring as a Colonel. Mr. Walker worked 10 years at Brenau University as Dean of Students at Fort Gordon in Augusta. Prior to that he was On Site Coordinator for the Fort Stewart branch of Brenau. He was recently elected to serve on the board of directors of the Chatham Artillery where he was an active member. He was also the Election Manager of the Statesboro Voting Precinct. Mr. Walker is predeceased by his parents James Randall Walker and Martha Annette Garbett.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nadine C. Walker, of Statesboro a daughter, Wendy Walker , of Brooklet and a son and daughter-in-law, James Wendell and Janet Walker, of Statesboro.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges –Moore Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry and Reverend Tom Byerly officiating.
Burial with full military honors will take place in the Brooklet City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the building fund of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro, 108 N. Main Street Statesboro, Ga. 30458.
