

Jimmy was born in Waynesboro and lived in Statesboro for many years before moving to Rocky Ford 25 years ago. He retired from King Finishing Company with 35 years of service and was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, where he was active in the Frank Williams Sunday school class. Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War, was an avid gardener and liked to hunt and fish. He also was an avid blood donor, who never met a stranger and especially liked to spend time with his family and friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Robert and Mary Louise Connell Kitchens and his brother, Ricky Kitchens.
Mr. Kitchens is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sarah Hollingsworth Kitchens of Rocky Ford; step-sons, William J. Strickland of Sylvania and Hugh S. Strickland, II and his wife, Necole of Sylvania; step-daughter, Patricia Strickland Langley and her husband, Christopher of Gainesville, VA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters and Elder Jake Futch officiating.
Burial will be held privately.
