

John was a native and lifelong resident of Statesboro and was a 1962 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. He worked many years with White Sheet Metal Company and later was a heating and air conditioning technician with Billy Gunter Heating and Air Conditioning, retiring with more than 30 years of service. John was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and served as the Bass Guitarist for the Southern Traditions Band for many years. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys and especially enjoyed playing softball for various teams in and around Statesboro. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Dyches, Sr. and Gladys Miller Dyches.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia Denny Dyches of Statesboro; son, Robert L. Rogers and his wife, Jodi of Statesboro; daughters, Kim Murphy and her husband, Jerry and Kerry Berkley all of Mineral Wells, TX; Penny Rogers of Statesboro and Misty Cothern and her husband, Bruce of Hazlehurst; brothers, James Dyches and his wife, Dolly of Statesboro and Billy Dan Dyches of Florida; sister, Joyce Hodges of Statesboro; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2016 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be members of the Southern Traditions Band.
Honorary pallbearers will be spouses of the members of the Southern Traditions Band.
