

The native of Bulloch County was the daughter of the late George Cone Hagin and Mamie McDaniel Hagin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Prosser and three brothers, G. C. Hagin, Mac Hagin and Robin Hagin.
Surviving are one son, David Harry Prosser and his wife, Kittie and one daughter, Pam Prosser Davis and her husband, Pete, both of Statesboro.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Chad McDaniel Prosser and his wife, Jennifer of Statesboro and John Drew Prosser and his wife, Andrea of Augusta; granddaughter, Elizabeth Davis of Nellysford, VA. She is survived by six great-grandchildren, Drew, Lorelei and Brannen Prosser of Statesboro and Wynn Graham and Kate Prosser of Augusta. In addition, she is survived by one brother-in-law, Billy Prosser and his wife, Sylvia of Brooklet, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Margaret graduated from Georgia Teacher’s College in Statesboro where she received her B. S. in Early Childhood Education. She went on to receive her Maters and Education Specialist Degrees from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She taught in Bulloch County Schools for 34 years, primarily at Portal Elementary School and Marvin Pittman Elementary School. In 1982, she was selected as Teacher of the Year at Marvin Pittman Elementary School and, in 1987, she was recognized by the Georgia Association of Educators as a semi-finalist in the Georgia Teacher Hall of Fame. In 1997, she received the Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, a DAR member, an active Beta Sigma Phi member and an avid Bridge player.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverend Jay Williams officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Beta Sigma Phi Sisters and all members of the various bridge clubs with which she enjoyed playing.
