Marie W. Newman

Marie Williams Newman, age 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. after a brief illness . Marie, a native of Savannah, loved to fish , dance, and spend time joking with her family. She will be fondly remembered as a very loving free spirit who never met a stranger and lived a grateful and joy filled life.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Newman; brothers, Harold Williams, Hubert Williams, and Johnny Williams; sister, Joyce Gupton ; and parents, Hubert and Dovie Williams.

Survivors include, nieces, Karen Phillips, Cynthia Gail Williams, Debbie Bragg, Sandy Gupton, Ronda Williams and Valerie Williams; nephews, Ronnie McCormick and Michael McCormick; several great nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday February 18th, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-12 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

A graveside service and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Lake Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Metter officiated by Reverend Patrick McElveen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Sapp, John Shannon, Clinton Wood, Jacob Pevey, Gary Haden, and Stephen Padgett.
