
Robert F. “Bob” Lewis, Jr., 91, died Friday, May 16, in Ogeechee Area Hospice.
Bob was born in Waycross, Ga. and spent most of his growing up years in Savannah, Ga. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He received a Master’s in Music; a Master’s in Psychology and a Doctorate in Education from Auburn University and was a Sigma Chi at Auburn. In the early 1960’s Bob moved to Statesboro and was employed by Georgia Southern College in the Education Department. He retired from G.S.U in the late 1980’s. He was a founding member of Statesboro New Covenant Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Fulton Lewis, Sr. and Edith Culpepper Lewis and his daughter, Wanda Lewis.
Bob is survived by his wife, Linda M. Lewis of Statesboro; son, R. Fulton Lewis, III and his wife, Monica of Cumming, GA; brothers, Jack Lewis and his wife, Carolyn of Savannah and Bill Lewis and his wife, Joyce of Hayes, Kansas; 3 grandsons, Ben, Davis and Bowen Lewis of Cumming; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 18 in Statesboro New Covenant Church with Rev. Brooks Waters and Rev David McLendon officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
