

Robert Hudson Williams passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 23 at his home in Jenkins County. Hudson was born October 29, 1934 to James Hudson and Ethel Keel Williams. He was the youngest of eight children. Hudson was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charlie, Preston, Carlos, and W.H.; his sisters, Seffie Chester, Ann Turner, Robena Jones, and infant son, Shannon Williams.
Hudson graduated from Portal High School in 1953 and that summer on July 14, he married his highschool sweetheart and the love of his life, Sarah Margaret Brannen.
He shared many stories and fond memories of growing up and working on the farm with his family near Portal. He found great delight in spending time with his five grandchildren. To his grandchildren and their friends, he was known as Pa Hudson. Pa Hudson’s influence played a large role in building character, values, and integrity in his children and grandchildren.
He was employed with Union Camp, Singer Sewing Machine Company, C& C Farms and retired as owner and operator of Brannen and Williams Poultry Farm.
Hudson and Margaret enjoyed many years of traveling, camping, and attending Bluegrass festivals with family and friends. He was also very fond of his Bulldog “Buck”. Hudson was a man of strong faith and a member of Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Williams; twin daughters and a son-in-law, Kay and Sammy Deal of Millen, and Faye Ellis of Statesboro; five grandchildren, Jason (Mandy) Ellis, Jamey (Pam) Ellis, Summer (Jay) Hodges, Blake (Heather) Deal, Lawson (Elizabeth) Deal; thirteen great grandchildren, Dylan Stucky, Regan Ellis, Brannen and Will Ellis, Audrey, Brannen, and Addie Hodges, Lalie, Caroline, and Blakelyn Deal, Mason, Kayla, and Avery Deal; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy and Alan Marsh, Myrene Reddick, Belinda Deloach, Alonzo Holmes, and Claudia Jordan.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 P.M. at Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. George Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery .
Pallbearers will be grandsons and Alonzo Holmes.
