Rolf Schneider, age 65 passed away, Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Rolf was born in Nienburg, Germany and moved with his family to Queens, NY in 1965 at the age of 13. He was an Untied States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and retired from the 3M Corporation, where he was a medical service technician. After his retirement, Rolf moved to Richmond Hill, GA and had lived there for the past seven years. He was very proud of his German heritage and as a young man was very involved in gymnastics. Rolf very much enjoyed reading and researching, learning as much information as possible about any topic that interested him. He very much enjoyed the beach and ocean and served as a humanitarian, never hesitating to help out a friend or stranger. Rolf was a photographer and artist and had a keen understanding of computer programming and networking and was very talented as an automotive mechanic.
Rolf is survived by his son, Jason Schneider of Cranford, NJ; daughter, Amanda Schneider Bancroft and her husband, Mark of Medford, NY; mother, Christa Schneider of Hilton Head Island, SC and granddaughter, Jeanie Bancroft of Medford, NY.
A graveside funeral service will be held in Calvary National Cemetery, in Calverton, NJ at a later date.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro, GA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
