

Mr. Brannen was a native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County and was a 1965 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School, where he played on the basketball team. Roy was the former owner of Pro Electric Company and had worked for the past 10 years as an electrician with Georgia Southern University. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and attended Middleground Primitive Baptist Church. Roy was an avid hunter and was a member of the Go Bar Hunting Club and was a former Shriner and Mason and loved cutting his grass and working in his yard. Roy was a loving family man who especially loved and cherished his grandchildren and was a very humble and giving man, who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie L. and Bernice Lee Campbell Brannen and his son, Ty Andrew Brannen.
Roy is survived by his sons, Ashley Brannen and his wife, Cheryl of Millen; Jimmy Barron and his wife, Leah of Brooklet and Cody Brannen and his wife, Bobbie Jo of Statesboro; daughters, Wendy Durden and her husband, Wayne and Brittany Brannen and her fiancé, DJ Jackson all of Statesboro; brother, James Craig Brannen and his wife, Billy Jean of Statesboro; sisters, Becky Carter and her husband, Chris of Statesboro and Barbara Murphy and her husband, Pat of Guyton, nine grandchildren, Tyler, Carlee, Casey Wayne, Hunter, Emma Cate, Kayden, Kaylee, Shyanne and Tyliah and his special loving friend, Julia Groover of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters and Elder Buck Grantham officiating. Burial will be in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Brannen, Lance Woods, Travis Deal, Wayne Durden, Stephen Frawley and Claude Robertson.
The family would like to thank Mr. Brannen’s caregiver, Annette McCaulley, for the excellent and loving care she gave to him during his illness.
