Mrs. Glenda, I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Ruben's passing. I had no idea. I was calling back to check in with you and Mr. Rubin to see how your carpets were doing and learned of his passing in November. I am so disheartened. Dear Glenda, Becky, and family,
So saddened to hear of the loss of your husband and dad. He was more than a mere man, he was a true friend. We followed him all through the years. Remembering the nights at the "Hitchin-Rail". The mirror he made for our mother, Thelma, so she could see outside from her nursing home bed. It meant a lot to her for all Rubin did and all his music. Dear Glenda,

We were really stunned when we heard about Rubin's passing. I was so very happy to be able to see him and you last month. Those few hours we had together were some of the most wonderful hours we've spent with him and you . You know how close we were and I don't know how I will get through this but with Christ's help I will. It was so hard sitting there and watching my best friend have such difficulty breathing. Just being there talking to him was all I needed. I just had to come down and see him one last time before he went home. It is going to be tough keeping on. He always told me there wasn't anything I couldn't get through with the help of Jesus. Christ is my Rock and my fortress.Rube went through a lot of difficulties in the late 80s and early 90s but he turned to Christ and that's what's been seeing him through. He often told me you were the shining star of his life and I believe it with all my heart. I saw the love between you and him and I knew it was totally blessed by God. I was so happy to see his life turn around. You were the best thing that ever happened to him and it's all because of God.
May the peace of God,which passeth all understanding be with you now and for ever. In Jesus' name, Amen!

Grandpa you will never be forgotten. I'm so glad you got to meet your Great Grandson the fourth generation of the Everidge family and my wife Shaina November 12th 2011. Sorry it was not sooner but we know what Nathan went through being born. I'm so glad they got to meet two of the best Grandparents in the world. I promise Glenda will be taken care of and will always be in our life. Nathan will always hear great stories of you as he gets older.

You always told me to hop on a cloud to take me any place I wanted to go.  If ever I missed you, just hop on my cloud and I'd be with you.  I never knew how much that would mean to me until now.  I know you wanted to go home and you hopped on your cloud to get there.  Although I miss you, I know there's no better place to be than where you are now.  I love you so much, Grandpa.  I'll see you in the clouds.

Rubin was a local music hero of mine from my early teens . Barely into my  20s I was honored to be on the same pkg shows , and to become friends . In my early 30s I got to play guitar for him , and in my 40s I got to front his band while he was in Georgia receiving his HoF award . At 50 , this was the last time I got to see him and play music with him .
On Christmas Eve 1991 my wife was in a terrible car accident , and we had a New Years Eve job that next week .Rubin new I needed that escape and I'll always remember his support thru this ..... and all the other times as well .
The world needs more like him , but sadly we have lost the one we had . He was my hero , mentor and friend and I will always fondly remember him .
