

Timothy Michael “Timmy” Smith, age 59, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Ellingham County Hospital after a brief illness.
Timmy was born in Savannah and had lived most of his life in Springfield. He graduated from Effingham County High School and was of the Catholic faith. He had been employed with Gnann’s Fix It Shop, Inc. for the past 19 years, where he was a small engine mechanic. Timmy was very involved in the Scottish Games and re-enactment events and was a very talented leatherworker and knife maker. He taught himself to sew and was very skilled at making his own garments for his re-enactment events. Timmy studied photography and was also a very talented photographer and photo finisher.
His mother, Josephine Wells Smith, preceded him in death.
Mr. Smith is survived by his father, Gerald James Smith, Sr. of Rincon; siblings, Terry Boatright and her husband, Bobby of Statesboro; Gerald James “Jimmy” Smith, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Nebraska; Kenny Shannon Smith and his wife, Donna and Lori Rogers and her husband, Tracey all of Ellabell; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Larry E. Bird officiating.
