Vicki Sharon Dwinell passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus on March 2, 2013 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born at the Charleston, SC Naval Hospital to George Fredrick and Eulene Ellis Dwinell on January 20, 1948. She spent her early years traveling with her parents across the United States and several Pacific Islands where her father, a career Navy Chief Petty Officer, was stationed. She was preceded in death by her father and by a sister, Crysta Dwinell Lavender.
Vicki came to know the Lord at the age of seven and has faithfully served Him in churches in Guam, Honolulu, and lastly at the First Baptist Church in Statesboro. Her favorite service to her Lord was singing in the Celebration Choir and crocheting for Caring Threads, a ministry of her church. She was a graduate of Marvin Pittman High and Tift College, Forsyth, Georgia. She also did graduate work at University of Georgia and obtained an EDS from Georgia Southern University. She retired after thirty- plus years of teaching, the major part of which she taught at Bryan County High School. It was there that she was selected as STAR teacher on two occasions.
Miss Dwinell is survived by her mother and step-father, Rusty and Ford Bailey; a niece, Jennifer Lavender of Statesboro; a great nephew and niece, Casey and Catelyn Pfleger, one step-sister, and her children, Laura Bailey Lower, Daniel, and Anna Lower of New Zealand, and a step brother, Andrew Bailey of Atlanta. A special friend and traveling companion, Shirley Helmly also survives.
Visitation will be held Monday from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. in The Averitt Room of the Statesboro First Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 4:00 P.M. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. John Waters officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Coen and Susan Allen.
Cousins and her brother-in-law, Cmdr. R.M. Lavender will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
