

Mr. William Z. “Bill” Brown, age 89, died early Thursday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a lifelong resident of Bulloch County and the owner and manager of the Buggy and Wagon Company in downtown Statesboro. Mr. Brown was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater. He was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, fishing, bird watching, and being at the beach. Mr. Brown also enjoyed the years that he lived at Cypress lake and loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill was the type of fella that never met a stranger and always left with a story. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ruby Brown, sister, Carolyn Lundberg, brother, Robert Brown, and his wife, Joanne Shearouse Brown.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Al Godfrey; his son, Larry Brown, all of Macon; his loving step-family, Fred and Bonnie Shearouse of Statesboro, Chip and Lane Godbee of Statesboro, Ann and John Dunning of Wayne, Nebraska; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Carter Berkeley officiating.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
