

Aaron Lee James, 70, of Statesville, passed away September 17, 2016 at his sister’s residence. Born in Iredell County on August 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Mack James and Fannie Louise Gray James. Mr. James was employed at Burlington Industries as a warehouse supervisor and, he joined Rocky Creek AME Zion Church at an early age.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert James, Harry James and Donnie James.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Damien Lamont James of Charlotte, Vanessa Gillespie Crudup of Statesville and Michelle (Charles) Kirby of Charlotte; three brothers, Perry (Frankie) James of Mocksville, Rayvon James of Hamptonville and Wayne James of Mocksville; two sisters, Sadellia (Henry) Gaither of Harmony and Debra (David) Watkins of Statesville and one sister-in-law, Betty James of Harmony.
He is further survived by three grandchildren, Jasmine Kirby of Raleigh, Jarrett Kirby and Journi Kirby of Charlotte; and aunts, Hester Thompson of Harmony and Vivian Imes of Far Rockaway, New York.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM in the Westmoreland Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rodney Barker officiating. Burial will be private.
