

A native of Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Majoros Taravella. Anna was very crafty and especially enjoyed writing calligraphy and crocheting. She lived a life of service and care for others, working in hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. Known lovingly as “Big A,” she adored her family, and they adored her in return. Anna was also well known for making awesome meatballs.
She is survived by her son, Edward Komorowski and his wife, Ellen, of Alachua, Florida; her daughters, Joan Averso of Statesville, North Carolina, and Carol Walker and her husband, Bill; and her brother, Thomas Taravella of Saint James, New York. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Peter Averso, Jessica Walker, and Michael Walker; and her great-grandchildren, Alexandra Averso, Joseph Averso, Devon Walker, Kylee Bailey, Tyler Walker, and Jaxson Walker. She is also remembered by her nephews, Thomas Taravella and Dominic Taravella.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Cummings.
The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, with Pastor James Lewis officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, North Carolina.
