Anne’s life was defined by a deep devotion to learning and a genuine desire to encourage others. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC Charlotte, where she was a proud member of Delta Zeta and served as chapter president. She later earned a Master of Arts degree from West Virginia University, followed by a second Master of Arts degree from Marshall University. She continued her studies at Marshall, earning an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree and, ultimately, a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree.
Throughout her career in education, Anne served in many meaningful roles, including teacher, principal, special education teacher, gifted education teacher, and consultant for the state department of education. Most recently, she taught English as a second language, a role that brought her deep fulfillment and allowed her to help students learn, grow, and communicate. Her dedication to education - and to the students, families, and fellow educators she served - was an important and lasting part of her life.
Anne was also deeply committed to giving back. In keeping with her lifelong dedication to learning and service, she chose to donate her body to research at West Virginia University. Through this generous gift, her desire to help others will continue beyond her lifetime.
Anne’s greatest joys were found in her family and in the everyday experiences that made life meaningful. She shared a brief but deeply meaningful marriage with Colin Davis. Fate brought them together four years ago, and they developed a special love and connection. They were married in a simple ceremony at their new home in Stony Point, surrounded by family, friends, and those closest to their hearts.
Anne enjoyed traveling and discovering new places, creating cherished memories along the way. She loved running 5Ks, embracing both the challenge and the accomplishment of crossing the finish line. She found joy in baking, especially biscotti, and sharing her creations with others. She also loved gardening and crafting, taking pleasure in creating beautiful things with her hands and tending to the world around her. Music brought her comfort and happiness, particularly the songs of Tom Petty and James Taylor.
Anne had a profound love for animals and adored all of her pets, each of whom held a special place in her heart and was a beloved member of her family.
Above all, Anne was a devoted mother to her children, Alexander (Alex) Monterosso and Christina Monterosso. Her love for them was constant, unwavering, and deeply cherished. The love she gave them and the memories they shared will remain treasured always.
Those who knew Anne will remember her courage, compassion, generosity, and zest for life. Even while facing cancer, she continued to encourage and care for others with grace and selflessness. Her strength during difficult times reflected the depth of her character, while her kindness and concern for others touched everyone around her. The example she set through her resilience and loving spirit will remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Anne is survived by her mother, Edna Marie Yoak Robinson; her husband, Colin Davis; her son, Alexander (Alex) Monterosso; her daughter, Christina Monterosso; her brothers, Kevin Robinson and Mike Robinson; and her sister, Kathy Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Edwin Robinson, Jr.
