

Barry Thomas Munday, 77, loving son, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2021 and reunited with his parents and two brothers. Barry was born on July 3, 1943 in Charlotte, NC to Harold and Minnie Munday. He was a life-long resident of Charlotte and worked as a car salesman in his early years and a security officer upon his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the early ‘60s, completing training at Fort Jackson and Fort Gordon. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 321 in Huntersville, NC for more than 30 years. A self-proclaimed “racing nut,” Barry was an avid NASCAR fan, having attended hundreds of races. He was known for his boisterous personality, sweet deposition and love for his dog, Baby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Arthur Munday Sr., his beloved mother, Minnie Pack Munday and his brothers, Harold Jr. and David Charles Munday. He is survived by his niece Jessica Munday-Holcombe (Jamie) of Johns Island, SC, his nephew Ryan Herald of Columbia, SC, his sisters-in-law, Kathleen Herald (Randy) of Lexington, SC and Carol Michael (Gil) of Weaverville, NC, and David and Bonnie Herald. He is also survived by his great nephews and niece David, Hannah and Hudson Holcombe.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church at 403 Barry Oak Rd. in Statesville, NC, with Pastor Burleson officiating. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family. Memorials can be made to the David C. Munday Scholarship Fund at the Medical University of South Carolina.
