

She was born August 2, 1955, in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late Mary Magaline Christopher Taylor and Rupert Sherrill Taylor, Sr. She was a faithful and devoted homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jackie Lee Johnson; and three brothers, George, David and Nelson Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Robert David Williams, Sr., whom she married on December 8, 1972; a daughter, Melissa (William) Sewell; two sons, Robert “Robbie” (Lisa) Williams, Jr. and Michael Williams, all of Statesville; four grandchildren, Hope Nicole Sewell, Charleston Danielle Sewell and Dwayne Lee Williams, all of Statesville, and Brandon Scott Williams of Indiana; a great-grandchild, Bailey Lee Sewell of Statesville; three sisters, Dorothy (Frank) Hammer and Becky Adams, both of Stony Point, Julie Spenser of Lincolnton; two brothers, Rupert (Beulah) Taylor, Jr. of Claremont and Jerry (Cathy) Taylor of Sherrills Ford; and her mother-in-law, Eloise M. Leazer of Statesville.
Funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 7, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian St. John officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
