Billy Webb Armstrong

STATESVILLE- Billy W. Armstrong, 89, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2018.

Born on March 7, 1929 in Pecos, Texas, he was the son to the late Webb and Sybil Peck Armstrong, and the grandson of late C. E. and Gadie Amrstrong of Pecos, Texas, and the late C. E. and Clara Peck or Balmorhea,Texas. He was a Lt. in United States Air Force and flew as a Mosquito Pilot in Korean War completing 100 combat missions.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Bob Armstrong, and sister, Jane Neely. Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 65 years, Virginia Hayes Armstrong; children, Nancy (Jimmy) Sloop, Lee Anne Bounds, Billy Armstrong, Brett (Nancy) Armstrong and Jill (Claude) Bagwell; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Gray; brother, John Armstrong, and many other loving family members.

The family will gather and receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County of Statesville, NC, and the West of the Pecos Museum of Pecos, Texas.

New star in the heavens. I know God sent those angel wings right down to you knowing you would already know the way Home. Ceiling, Visibility Unlimited for your trip. I salute you my hero and your true love, Virginia always waiting for your return, holding down the fort at home. Sometimes very difficult for her, but never wavering , just waiting for you. My hero's wife.
