Billy Webb Armstrong, 89, of Statesville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018. He was born on March 7, 1929, in Pecos, Texas to the late Webb and Sybil Peck Armstrong. He was also the grandson of late C. E. and Gadie Amrstrong of Pecos, Texas, and the late C. E. and Clara Peck or Balmorhea, Texas.
Billy served as a lieutenant in the US Air Force and flew as a Mosquito Pilot in the Korean War, completing 100 combat missions.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Armstrong, and his sister, Jane Neely.
Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 65 years, Virginia Hayes Armstrong; children, Nancy (Jimmy) Sloop, Lee Anne Bounds, Billy Armstrong, Brett (Nancy) Armstrong and Jill (Claude) Bagwell; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Gray; brother, John Armstrong, and many other loving family members.
The family will gather and receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
