

He was born in Statesville, NC, on December 1, 1933, to the late Robert Glenn and Sarah Wilma Jacks Marlowe. He was a 1952 graduate of Statesville High School and served in the US Army stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was a shipping manager for Clark Schwebel, Inc., formerly Uniglass Industries, for over 25 years and later worked for Auto Equipment Company.
On November 5, 1955, he married the love of his life, Grace Eveline Houston Marlowe. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. She preceded him in death on January 13, 2013. They always enjoyed spending their days together with family, church friends and community friends. They enjoyed taking trips together as well.
He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 54 years. He devoted his life to the church, and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He served in several leadership capacities throughout the years. He was also a member of the East Iredell Seniors. He loved his farm, and raising cattle and miniature donkeys.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Bustle, and a sister-in-law, Maxie Poole Houston.
He cherished his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Hilton of Apex, NC and Pamela Ann Marlowe of Statesville, NC, and her fiance’ Billy Benfield. He is survived by four grandchildren, Shannon (Leon) Hilton Gibbs of Angier, NC, Jacob Hilton of Raleigh, NC, Brandon (Erin) Hilton of Centreville, VA, and Clint Benbow of Statesville, NC and his fiance’ Savanna McMahan. He is survived by one brother-in-law, Gene Houston, of Statesville, NC, a special cousin, Ruby Beaver of Cleveland, NC, and nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11:00 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Dickens and Rev. R. Dale Hilton officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Clint Benbow, Jacob Hilton, Brandon Hilton, Leon Gibbs, Mike Wilson, Jeff McMahan, Jim Sherrill and Eddie Oelenberger.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC.
