Carl Edwin Lindsey

Carl Edwin Lindsey, 88, of Statesville, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at his residence. A native of Iredell County, he was the son of the late Carl and Augusta Lindsey. He was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church. A dedicated veteran, he was honored to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. He served in the 82nd Airborne and was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Bragg. Later in life, he was a member of DAV Post 68 and the American Legion. He proudly served on the Funeral Honor Guard for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Lee Lindsey and Carl Michael Lindsey; by two brothers, Jack and Hubert Lindsey; and by three sisters, Ollie Harris, Connie Woodward and Shirley Hall.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Faye Sloan Lindsey; by a daughter, Judy Teaster and husband Ralph of Troutman, NC; and by a grandson, Brandon Lee Teaster of Statesville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Mr. Lindsey’s life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Church Cemetery.
