Carolyn Faye Minor Stevens

Carolyn Faye Minor Stevens, 78, of York, South Carolina, was born on October 13, 1947, in Iredell County, North Carolina, and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. In every life she touched, Carolyn will be remembered with deep affection. She was a cherished, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose steady faith, patience, intellect, and quiet grace shaped her family and community.

Growing up in Statesville, North Carolina, Carolyn graduated from Morningside High School before heading to New York City, where she met the love of her life, Charles Baldwin Alexander Stevens. Together, they shared an enduring marriage of over 50 years—a sacred partnership defined by steadfast devotion, tenderness, and unwavering commitment.

As a proud Army wife, Carolyn met every season of military life with resilience and an adventurous spirit. She created warm, loving homes across continents and time zones, accompanying her husband to multiple places around the world.

Following her husband's military discharge, her journey led her to build cherished memories across multiple places including Salisbury, Greensboro, High Point, and Pleasant Gardens, North Carolina, as well as Snyder, Oklahoma, before settling in South Carolina.

A woman of remarkable determination and curiosity, Carolyn believed learning was a lifelong pursuit. In her 60s, she earned her Bachelor's degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She brought that same diligence, poise, and meticulous care to her professional career, serving faithfully in multiple roles, including a legal secretary.

For more than 70 years, Carolyn was a devoted member of Mt. Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church in Statesville, where she grew up under the spiritual guidance of her parents. Her faith was not loud, but enduring, which she expressed through steadfast consistency, a generous spirit, and her sincere, graceful gift as a talented vocalist.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bishop Clarence Minor and Mother Rachel Marie Jones Minor; her beloved husband, Charles Baldwin Alexander Stevens; her daughter, Zeniah Rachelle Stevens-Latoude; her brothers, Clarence Joel Minor and Don Eugene Minor; and her sister, Sadie B. Smith.

Her legacy of love, strength, and wisdom lives on through her family: her sons, Chaske Stevens, Sr. and daughter-in-law Candida of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Ian Stevens and daughter-in-law Shaquanna of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; her brother, The Rev. Dr. C. Randy Minor of Clemmons, North Carolina; her sisters, Willie Minor Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Frances Minor Trotter, of Durham, North Carolina; her beloved grandchildren, Cadriane Stevens, Chaske Stevens, Jr., Na'Sha Pipkins, Chanci Kingdom Stevens, Zoriah Latoude, Nolan Stevens, and Lucas Stevens; and her precious great-grandchildren, Kadrian King Alexander Stevens and Kailiani Dezarae Jade Stevens; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends.

Service Details

Family Visitation: Friday, August 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Mount Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church, 1330 Harris Street, Statesville, NC 28677.

Homegoing Celebration: Friday, August 28, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Mount Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church, with her brother, The Rev. Dr. C. Randy Minor, officiating.

Entombment: Following the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Statesville, NC.
