

She was born in Lancaster County, S.C. on June 17, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Cecil Blackwelder and Doris Hawfield Blackwelder. Cecile was a homemaker and a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church for over fifty years where she also taught Sunday School for over forty years. She was also a member of the Snow Creek Chapter of the Order Of The Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Ruth.
On September 24, 1961, she married Mr. Ernest N. Sloan who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael Sloan (Casey) of Statesville and Stephen Sloan (Erika) of Clemmons; a daughter, Ronda Hayes (Brian Miller) of Statesville; five grandchildren: Jessica McLaurin (Chad), Nicholas Hayes (Amanda), Luke, Will and Caroline Sloan along with two great grandchildren: Ashleigh McLaurin and Peyton McLaurin. She also has a grandchild and a great grandchild soon to be born.
Additional survivors include a brother, Harry Blackwelder (Sandy) of Lake Wylie; three sisters, Roberta Snipes and Jeanette McLemore both of Ft. Mills, S.C. and Judy Cook (Jerry) of Pineville.
Services celebrating Cecile's life will be conducted at 2:00 Monday November 28, 2011, at Mountain View United Methodist Church with Rev. Trevor Batchelor and Rev. Bob Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Hayes, Luke Sloan, Will Sloan, Chad McLaurin, Garrett Summers, Doy Levan, Jamie and Jon Sloan.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M. Sunday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will be at home.
