Charlene Kaye Burrow Liechty

In addition to her parents, George Russell Burrow and Lurlene Weathers Burrow, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, David Gary Liechty; her son, James Whitt; and her sisters, Karen Schwab and Lois Hughes.

Charlene is survived by her sons, Brady Liechty (Barbara) of Hiddenite, and Gregory Liechty (Crystal) of Statesville; her daughter, Tasha Liechty Hayden (Kevin) of Statesville; her brothers, Charles Burrow (Bea), Randy Burrow (Kelly), both of Michigan; and Billy Herring (Marysue) of Alabama; her grandchildren, Kiley Walley (Scott), David Liechty, Dean Liechty (Tesla), Brittany Samuels (Myron), Tiffany Hayden (Jacolby), Kevin Hayden, Jr. (Brianna), Alexis Walker, Greg Liechty, Jr. (Kinley) and Grady Liechty; and her great-grandchildren, Connor, Ayden, C.J., Elijah, Zayvion, Daisy, Malaya, Noah, Niko, Zyla, Lily, Journi, Sophia, Capri, Alan, and Carter along with a host of other family members and special friends.

Charlene was a true warrior for the Kingdom of Heaven. She was a faithful servant of God to the very end. She loved the Lord deeply and loved people with a love that was evident to all who crossed her path. If you were blessed to meet Charlene, you knew before you left that she loved you—and, most importantly, that Jesus loves you.

Charlene faithfully testified to God’s goodness, grace, and faithfulness wherever she went. Her life stood as a testimony of what it means to fully surrender to the Lord and allow Him to work through her for His purpose.

In the earlier years of her life, Charlene worked for Hunt Beinfang, Neiman Industries, Day’s Inn, and several other places. In the late 1980s, God called her into ministry, and she answered that call wholeheartedly.

Charlene served as a missionary evangelist, taking the Gospel wherever God opened the door. She ministered in churches across many states and was especially passionate about reaching those who were hurting, forgotten, hungry, or in need of hope. She had a street ministry in Morganton, North Carolina, and Adrian, Michigan, sharing the love of Jesus with all who would listen. She had a deep compassion for the hungry and the homeless and found great joy in serving others in any way she could. Whether through a meal, a prayer, a word of encouragement, or simply sitting with someone in need of companionship, Charlene made herself available to those around her.

To many, Charlene was more than a friend or fellow believer—she was a spiritual mother. She opened her heart and her home to many, becoming a mother to countless adopted sons and daughters and a grandmother to many adopted grandchildren. She invested in their lives, prayed for them, encouraged them, and consistently pointed them to Jesus.

Charlene traveled extensively throughout her ministry, carrying the message of God’s love and faithfulness wherever she went. Her greatest desire was not personal recognition, but that others would come to know Jesus and experience the goodness of God.

Her earthly journey is now complete, but the seeds she planted remain. Every life she touched—every person she prayed for, every meal she provided, every word of encouragement she spoke, and every church she served—forms part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Charlene fought the good fight, finished her course, and remained faithful to her Lord. She has now gone home to be with the One she loved and served so faithfully. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing that Charlene is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father, where there is no more pain, sorrow, or tears.

Rest well, Charlene. Your work here is finished. Your race is complete. You are home. Until we meet again, may we carry forward the message she shared so faithfully: Jesus loves you. God is good. And He is faithful.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and again, on Saturday, August 22, 2026 beginning at 2:30 PM at the Believers Faith Center. A service to celebrate Charlene's life wil, follow, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Believers Faith Center Church in Statesville. Pastor Mike Bivens will officiate. Burial will occur at a later date and will be private for the immediate family.
