Charles Howard Englebert, 91, of Statesville, NC was reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Loretta on August 31, 2025. He passed away peacefully at Davie Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mocksville. Howard was born August 5, 1934 in Harmony, NC and was the youngest son of Frank and Lucy Englebert and the last of the six Englebert boys to pass. He worked at Rental Uniform for 33 years, retiring as the Plant Manager there. He was a faithful member of Front Street Baptist Church for many years and attended Western Avenue Baptist Church before moving to Kernersville in 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Levan Englebert, his mother and father and his 5 brothers, Ralph Englebert, Buster Englebert, James Englebert, Jack Englebert and Frank Englebert.
Howard is survived by his son, Kent Englebert (Carla Englebert) of Kernersville and his favorite daughter, Lori Hawkins of Huntersville. Grandkids, Matt Englebert (Kate Englebert) of Winston Salem, Holly Hawkins (Justin Scism) of Kernersville, Hunter Hawkins (Keturah Hawkins) of Maiden. Great grandkids, Charlie Hawkins, Veda Hawkins, Georgia Englebert and Baby Hawkins due in February 2026.
Howard was the kindest, most loving man. He loved God with all his heart and was the best husband, father and grandfather. He loved working out in the yard and helping others in any way they may need him. He wanted everyone to know his Lord and Savior. A[er being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he prayed daily for the Lord to take him home. Now he can rest in peace with his wife in the presence of Jesus.
The funeral service will be held at Western Avenue Baptist Church on Museum Road in Statesville on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service.
