D. R. Cartner Jr.

D. R. Cartner Jr., 69, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away on June 20, 2026. Born October 25, 1956, in Iredell County, D. R. was the son of the late D. R. Cartner, Sr. and the late Alice Christine Tucker Cartner.

D. R. spent his working life as a farmer, a steady calling that reflected a commitment to honest work and the daily care it requires. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose devotion to family was clear in the life he built and the people he cherished.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lee Neilson Cartner of Statesville; daughters, Brittany Cartner and Bethany Ann Cartner Prins (Dawie); son, Dillon Ryan Cartner (Hannah); grandsons, Riggs Cartner, Waylon Cartner, and Tripp Prins; and granddaughter, Belle Prins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father, D. R. Cartner, Sr., and his mother, Alice Christine Tucker Cartner.

A funeral service will be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., with Rev. Jack Lipsey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
