

He was born March 22, 1962, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Perry Cleveland and Leathie Jane Sweet Dement. He was an electrical estimator with Kenco Electric in Winston-Salem. He held a N.C. Unlimited Electrical License and was working towards his Associate’s Degree in Business Management. He enjoyed grilling and trout fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Greenberg Dement, whom he married on May 3, 1996; two children, Devin Wayne Pharr of New Jersey and Samantha Carol Pharr of Statesville; a granddaughter, Alexia Denine Pharr of Statesville; two sisters, Beatrice Jane (Charles) Noon of Stony Point and Delores (Rick) Plyler of Mooresville; two brothers, Clifton (Teresa) Dement of Statesville and Jerry (Dana) Dement of Troutman; and his father-in-law, The Rev. Jim (Jeanette) Greenberg of Monroe.
Funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 5, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Greenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
