Dorothy Louise Cabisca Burdick

Dorothy’s life was rooted in the quiet, steady devotion that turns ordinary days into a lasting legacy. A patient and thoughtful presence, she carried herself with humility and a gentle strength that made others feel safe, seen, and cared for. To know Dorothy was to encounter a kind heart—one that offered compassion freely and without fanfare, again and again, in ways both small and life-shaping.

She was married for 52 years to her husband, Robert H.W. Burdick. Together they built a family held together by love, sacrifice, and the sort of selfless care that defined Dorothy at her core. Though she was a homemaker, those closest to her knew her most important work was the work of being a Mom and a Grandmother—roles she embraced with tenderness, constancy, and an unwavering willingness to put others first.

Dorothy’s faith was not something she kept to herself; everyone knew that she loved the Lord. Her warmth made friendship come easily—she was always making friends—and her sweetness left a mark that lingered long after a conversation ended. Beloved by many, she had a magnetic way of drawing people in, not through noise or show, but through genuine goodness. Those who loved her take comfort in the hope that she was surely greeted with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, George Cabisca; her mother, Patricia Sutton Vanzile; her brothers, William Cabisca, David Cabisca, George Cabisca, and Michael Cabisca; and her grandchild, Bailey Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Robert H.W. Burdick; her daughters, Bobijo Miller (John) of Statesville, North Carolina, and Desarae Burdick (fiance, Pierce Tarr) of Corning, New York; her sons, Douglas Burdick (Rhonda) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Bronson Burdick of Jamestown, New York; her brother, Daniel Cabisca; her sister, Jessie Cradduck; her grandchildren, Brittany Spiro, Dakota Burdick, Brooke Wilson, Jordan Miller, Joseph Miller, Brayson Holstander, Paisley Tarr, Pierson Tarr, and Raelee Tarr; and her great-grandchild, Joseph Spiro.

At this time, no formal services are scheduled.
