Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Cameron Douglas Byrd.
Douglas is survived by his daughter, Christa Byrd Phillips(Robert) of Asheville, N.C.,grandchild, Maya Kathryn Phillips, also of Asheville, N.C., sisters; Shirley Schomisch, of Appleton, WI., Linda Vorwerk, of Austin, TX, Peggy Brooks, of Fayetteville, N.C, and his beloved companion Little Dog.
Douglas served in the US Army from 1960-1962.
The family will hold a celebration of life on Saturday, October 15, 2022, beginning at 2 pm, at Oakwood Cemetery, with military honors.
Family expresses gratitude to Katie Lovelace, Amy Goodson, as well as Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for providing loving & compassionate care.
