

Mr. Dwight Levon Austin, 80, of Statesville, died Monday October 11th at Brian Center of Statesville. Born in Alexander County on January 13, 1929, he waas a son of the late Finley Geter Austin and Meda Bebber Austin. Mr. Austin was a retired truck driver for Frederickson Motor Express and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Sarah Isabelle Austin and a brother, Harlen Austin.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline (Polly) West Austin, a son, Darin L. Austin and his wife, Angela of Statesville, a daughter, Kim A. Gray and her husband, Brian of Statesville, and grandchildren: Matthew Dwight Austin, Ellie Grace Austin and Logan James Gray.
Services celebrating Mr. Austin's life will be conducted at 11:00 Wednesday at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Dr. J. B. Parker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites presented by the Harmony American Legion Post. The family will assemble at the residence of his son, Darin Austin at 153 Dellinger Dr. Statesville and will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
