Edith Johnson Stewart

Mrs. Edith Johnson Stewart, 81, of Autumn Care of Statesville, died Tuesday at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Iredell County born October 28, 1929 and was the daughter of the late General Lee and Addie Mayberry Johnson.

On September 20, 1947 she married Thomas Richard Stewart who died May 29, 1979. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Derwood and Russell Lee Johnson , a sister: Mrs. Ruby Goforth and her step mother: Macie Beckham Johnson.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by two sons: Thomas Eugene and Jerry Allen Stewart both of Statesville, one daughter: Cynthia Gail Ervin of Statesville and one sister: Addie Faust of Statesville, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at Friday at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. James Moore and Dr. J.B. Parker officiating. The body will lie in state 30 prior to the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens with the grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
