There are many surviving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who he treasured close to his heart.

He was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his brothers and sisters in Christ. Ed Barnhardt was like a part of my family. Dad shared "Barnhardt boys" stories with me all through my childhood. He and Darrell, Dwight, and Ed were good friends, and almost like brothers. Recently when dad retired from preaching, Ed told him that if he needed anything at all, to call him, and he would be there. What a blessed friendship! Ed was a sweet and kind man, and I am so glad to have known him. The most important thing though, is that my family and I will get to spend eternity in heaven with Ed one day. We love you and will miss you, Ed!
