Mrs. Elvalee Sloan Templeton
January 4, 1932 – June 4, 2018
Mrs. Elvalee Sloan Templeton, 86, passed away at home on Monday, June 4, 2018.
A native of Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Rex Orin Sloan and Edna Toyce McCurdy Sloan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Oliver Glen “Jack” Templeton, Jr.; by three brothers, William Orin “Bill” Sloan, Carl Clay Sloan, Sr., and James F. “Jim” Sloan; and by two sisters, Joyce Sloan Madison and Polly Sloan Greene Hart. She was a member of Union Grove Methodist Church and attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael G. Templeton (Donna); by her daughters, Kathy Templeton Fox (Carl) and Jackie L. Watkins (Stanley); by four brothers, Donald Sloan (Naomi) of Winston-Salem, Dennis Sloan (Carolyn) of Olin, Wayne Sloan of Olin and Gerald Sloan (Debbie) of Statesville; by her sisters, Frankie Sloan Moose of Kannapolis, Dorothy Sloan Campbell of Statesville, Almedia Sloan Baxter (Bill) of Statesville, Judy Sloan Upright (Larry) of Olin; sister-in-law, Betty Templeton Lunsford of Union Grove; by her grandchildren, Shánna Fox Oakley (David), Kristina Fox Guthrie (Matthew), Travis Templeton (Randa), Ashley T. Anderson (James), Kyle S. Watkins and Mitchell L. Watkins; by her great-grandchildren, Luke R. Oakley, Katherine L. Oakley, Mia K. Guthrie, Noah Templeton, Natalie Templeton, Isabella “Izzy” D. Anderson, James M. “Tripp” Anderson, III and Mackenzie G. Anderson; by numerous beloved nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Faye Bryson.
The family of Mrs. Templeton will receive friends on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Templeton will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM with the Revs. David Childress and Byron Allison officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
