Evans Earl Lowery Jr.

A 1964 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Evans carried forward a steady sense of purpose that shaped the life he built and the people he cared for. Known as "Charger" to his friends, his family called him "Junnie". Regardless of what he was nicknamed, all who knew him will remember him fondly.

Immediately after graduation, Evans enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a proud veteran. In his working life, he also poured that same dedication into building and running his own businesses, American Courier Plus and American Standard Courier—work that reflected his reliability, loyalty, and the thoughtful way he showed up for others.

For 28 years of marriage, Evans was devoted to his wife Sheila, taking real pride in making sure she was happy. His love was not loud or performative; it was faithful, consistent, and kind-hearted—expressed in the everyday ways that simply mattered.

Evans found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful routines. He loved riding trains, especially traveling to South Carolina to spend his summers with family. He also enjoyed fishing and golf—quiet pastimes that suited his gentle spirit and free-hearted way of moving through the world. To those who knew him, Evans will be remembered as an all-around good person: thoughtful, steady, and deeply caring.

Evans is survived by his wife, Sheila Lowery; his son, Evans Earl Lowery, III (Tina) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his daughters, Lisa D. Spriggs and Rickeena Neely, both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Najee, Evans, IV, Quincy, Jeray, Luelle, Michelle, Na'lis, Chentel, Prestige, Nathaniel and Alicia, and his great-grandchildren, Kaizon and Milani. He was preceded in death by his father, Evans Earl Lowery, Sr.; his mother, Annie Lonnon Lowery; and his sister, Linda Jones.

The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, located at 705 Davie Avenue in Statesville, North Carolina, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow, in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, beginning at Noon with the Rev. Walter Dockens and Chaplain Pamela Haith officiating. Evans will be laid to rest at the Salisbury National Cemetery Annex in Salisbury, North Carolina at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 with military honors.
