
He was born October 24, 1928, in Rutherford County, NC, and was the son of the late Forrest Brent and Mattie Carpenter Price. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, graduated from Western Carolina, and received his Masters of Education from UNC-C. For 33 years, he was a sixth-grade teacher at Troutman Elementary School and Troutman Middle School. He was an active member at First ARP Church where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and an elder. He was a member of the Golden K Club and served the community as a volunteer at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Price and Mary Sue Thompson; and a brother, James Price.
Forrest is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Kearns Price, whom he married on August 17, 1958; a daughter, Allison Wise of Fairborn, OH; two sons, Brent Price and his wife, Tammy, of Newland and Kelly Price and his wife, Crystal, of Lexington; a grandson, Anthony Szary of Fairborn, OH; and a sister, Ina Mae Lutz, and her husband, Wayne, of Spindale.
Memorial services celebrating Forrest’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2011, at First ARP Church with the Rev. Robert Shearer officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Sunday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
