Freda Weatherman Mullis
May 15, 1930 – February 28, 2019
Freda Weatherman Mullis, 88, of Harmony, went into her heavenly home on Thursday, February 28, 2019.
Born on May 15, 1930 in Yadkin County, she was the daughter of the late Wade Lee Weatherman and Electa Johnson Weatherman.
Freda was a faithful member of Winthrop Friends Meeting in Harmony. She enjoyed being outside gardening flowers and vegetables. She also loved spending time with her family at reunions and pig-pickings. On September 12, 1950, she married the love of her life, Henry Paul Mullis. After 59 years of marriage, he passed away on June 29, 2009.
Freda was one of twelve children. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Minnie Trivette, Ruth Harper, Edith Stilleman, Geneva Trivette, Dorothy Campbell, and Wihelmina Martin; brothers, Billy Rufus Weatherman, Wade Lee Weatherman Jr., Dwight (Bill) Weatherman.
Those left to cherish her memory include her twin sister, Reda (Roy) Jurney; sister, Ulala Mitchell, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends and neighbors, Harry and Marlene Howell.
A funeral service will be held at Winthrop Friends Meeting on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Salmons officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winthrop Friends Meeting, 262 Winthrop Road, Harmony, NC 28634 or to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
The family would like to thank Dr. Carla Pence and caregivers, Linda Babb and Bonnie Mitchell, for their loving care over the years. Freda wishes to also thank her church family and that God be with you until we meet again.
