Gail Charlotte Barton Duckworth, “Mama Duck”, 75, of Harmony, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Gail was born on April 14, 1950, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Harry Lawrence Barton, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Ethel Barton (Ladd).
Gail was a retired homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Marshall “M.P” Preston Duckworth. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Roy Barton and Johnny Barton, as well as a sister, Elizabeth Barton. Gail has two living brothers, Harry Barton, Jr. (Nettie) and George Barton.
To carry on her loving memory are her daughters, Marsha Duckworth (Shawn) of Harmony and Deborah Ferguson (Steve) of Union Grove, and son, Kevin Duckworth of Lincolnton. Gail has six grandchildren, Jessie Lee, Sierra Reece (Colby), Nina Padgett, Steven Ferguson, Savanna and Athena. Gail was a loving great grandmother to Kimberlee, McArthur, Gracelyn, Emelyn, Lillian, Braylan and Avyan. To cherish her as well were numerous nieces and nephews.
