

He was born April 9, 1932, in Providence, Rhode Island, and was the son of the late Leo T. and Beatrice Choquette Lamoureux.
He retired from the U.,S. Navy after 30 years of service. During his tour of duty, he was an aviation commander and served on the USS Enterprise, USS America, USS Intrepid, USS Essex and USS Ranger. He was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was active in the American Legion, Fleet Treasure Association, Retired Officers Association, Knights of Columbus, and the Association of Aviation Ordnancemen.
Mr. Lamoureux is survived by is wife, Dora Ross Lamoureux; three sons, George Joseph Lamoureux, Jr. (Diane) of Statesville, Michael Joseph Lamoureux of Statesville, Carl Joseph Lamoureux (Eily) of Oregon; six daughters, Gloria L. Boone (Glenn) of Statesville, Donna Marie Hames (Roger) of Statesville, Catherine Ann Brousseau of Massachusetts, Michelle Lamour-Miller (Scott) of Rhode Island, Cynthia Marie Joy (William) of Florida, and Carolyn Marie Hebert (Gerard) of Rhode Island; a sister, Therese Marie Vallande of Rhode Island; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services celebrating Mr. Lamoureux's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Father Kurt Fohn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Irdell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
