Gladys Bliss Head Hager, 83, of Troutman, North Carolina, passed away on June 1, 2026. Born April 14, 1943, in Troutman, North Carolina, Gladys will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude by all who knew and loved her.
Gladys retired from working in textiles as a seamstress, a role that reflected her steady dedication and the quiet pride she took in a life of honest work. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
On February 9, 1963, Gladys married Clarence William Hager, Sr., and they shared a strong marriage that lasted 48 years, until his death on June 3, 2011.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence William Hager, Sr.; her father, Stamey Wesley Head; her mother, Martha Almegie Lambert Head; her brothers, James Head, Ralph Head, L.G. Head, and Eugene Head; and her sisters, Hazel Head Cloer, Elsie Head Benge Stroud, Faye Head Hager, Blanche Rash, and Deanie Head.
She is survived by her son, Clarence William Hager, Jr. of Statesville, North Carolina.
A visitation will be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville on June 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A graveside service will be held at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery, 2980 Wilkesboro Highway, Statesville, on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Bill Troutman officiating. Gladys will be laid to rest immediately following the service.
